Introducing StudentWhere – adding the "Where" factor
StudentWhere is a new business application that locates each student on a map. When integrated with a student management system, the user can interactively query the student details.
The key uses of StudentWhere are:
- Locate students to enable analysis of the concentration of students within suburb areas. This provides effective marketing and planning information for schools.
- Assists schools with funding and grant submissions based on socio-demographic and economic information.
- Assist with bus route planning - adding and modifying bus services to match the location of students.
OMNILINK have developed new software functions that locate (the technical term is "geo-code") student address details. As students are enrolled or change address, the address is matched to a geographic coordinate using an automated process. Initial trials show that a very high match rate is achieved with the first automated match process.
StudentWhere utilises industry leading mapping technology, and Microsoft databases, and can be tailored to suit the individual requirements. StudentWhere currently runs on Microsoft Windows platforms.
StudentWhere allows the user to query graphical and attribute data easily, and provides for the linking of the two data sets. The navigation controls and interaction with map objects has been modelled on AssetWhere, so AssetWhere users will feel at ease with StudentWhere. For new users, no more than one day of installation and training will be required.
