OMNILINK AssetWhere™

Omniscient is a suite of tools for metadata management, with three core components:

  1. OMNISCIENT Harvester - scans, mines and extracts metadata across files, file systems and databases to produce an inventory of spatial and associated data that is the starting point for the establishment of best practice information management and in particular the creation of a spatial data infrastructure(SDI) within a business unit, an agency and the wider community.
  2. OMNISCIENT Sifter - utilises the output from the Harvester to sort and identify the inconsistencies within the data inventory such as duplicates, data orphans, multiple versions. Provides for output is ISO19139 standard format including reprojection of multiple data sources
  3. OMNISCIENT MDM - Metadata Manager - a web enabled application that provides enterprise deployment of metadata for the purposes of discovery. Multi-user capability across "consumers, maintainers and creators".

Features and Benefits

  • Allows for formation of your corporate spatial information “identity” – what is this data, where is it and how should I use it – plays on the digital finger printing aspects of the harvesting software.
  • Results in an organisation using data to its full potential for max ROI
  • Allows organisations to have a competitive advantage
  • Due diligence approach – being prepared for the "we need your data [ what do you have" question. Good e-government practice
  • E-Govt ready
  • Metadata Deliverables will be readily understood and integrated by clients into their business systems
  • Ability to integrate web viewer into corporate GIS environments - integration with independence/integrity of metadata
  • Metadata not bound up in GIS vendor technology apps that users require to have loaded and who may need training
  • No client side licensing required - all you need is a web browser! Results in the whole enterprise being able to explore metadata without the boundary of a specific licence and hence cost

OMNISCIENT compliance:
Omniscient is developed using an Open Source approach and is compliant with the latest spatial data metadata standards developed by International Organisation For Standardardisation (ISO – www.iso.org ). OMNISCIENT complies with:

  • ISO19115:2003 – Geographic Information – Metadata (more info)
  • ISO19139:2007 – Geographic Information - XML Schema implementation - defines Geographic MetaData XML (gmd) encoding, an XML Schema implementation derived from ISO 19115.

Within jurisdictions, profiles are developed to provide for localised implementation of the above ISO standards. OMNISCIENT will provide support and compliance with there standards through templates. To date, support for the ANZLIC (www.anzlic.org.au) Profile is provided and OMNISCIENT has been successfully interfaced into our clients enterprise spatial applications to enable a seamless interface between users and metadata.
